Workshops & Webcasts
Knowledge Management for Design and Manufacturing Workshop and Webcast - Knowledge management is the next great barrier to leap-ahead competitive advantage for design and manufacturing enterprises. Knowledge management tools and applications are delivering breakthrough successes for companies in every sector of the economy. Leading companies in all sectors have developed strategies for knowledge management. Many are achieving great success by applying knowledge management philosophies, methodologies, and tools. Workshop Notes are only available to attendees who can access that information here. The presentation from the Webcast is available to the public from the workshop sponsor, NASA and the National Center for Advanced Manufacturing website. Read the workshop prospectus or agenda.
The Smart Machine Tools Technology Workshop - by the National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg MD and co-sponsored by the National Science Foundation. The Purpose of the workshop was to bring together leading practitioners from industry, academia, and government to assess needs, opportunities, and requirements for increasing the intelligence of machine tools for material removal. The workshop focused on four functional areas that may benefit from smart machine tool technologies: generating the sequence of elementary machine operations, monitoring and improvement of the cutting process, monitoring and improvement of part accuracy, and monitoring and maintaining machine condition. Workshop notes are only available to attendees who can access that information here.
Modeling & Simulation for Affordable Manufacturing – Under this joint U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory and National Science Foundation project, IMTI convened more than 60 representatives of the nation's technology community to define a common vision for development and application of modeling and simulation (M&S) technologies in manufacturing. The workshop brought together representatives from more than 40 organizations to identify M&S technology advances that will radically reform the manufacturing phase of the product acquisition cycle. Outputs of this project include a technology roadmap document and four white papers available on our site
