About IMTI

IMTI was created in January 2000 as a non-profit member based organization to bring together industry, academic, and government entities to support and strengthen the nation's manufacturing community. A powerful partnership combining the knowledge and expertise of public and private organizations...IMTI includes five federal agencies and leading companies such as Rockwell Collins and Procter & Gamble.

IMTI members are defining the future of manufacturing technology and manufacturing enterprises through R&D and strategic collaboration. IMTI's vision is to be the point of synergy for assisting U.S. manufacturing to achieve competitive excellence through manufacturing science and technology. We are dedicated to connecting, motivating, facilitating and enabling solutions to achieve the future success of manufacturing enterprises and the national manufacturing infrastructure.

IMTI is led by Richard Neal – Executive Director

Richard Neal has more than 30 years management experience in manufacturing technologies. Prior to founding IMTI, Mr. Neal worked for Lockheed Martin where he served as Project Manager for the Integrated Manufacturing Technology Roadmapping Project, as Principal Investigator for the Next Generation Manufacturing (NGM) Project, as Program Manager for the Technologies Enabling Agile Manufacturing (TEAM) Program, and as Manager of Information Systems Development for the Oak Ridge Y-12 Plant. Mr. Neal serves on Advisory Boards for academic institutions including the University of Tennessee , Georgia Tech University , and Pellissippi State Community College ,. He serves/has served on manufacturing committees including a National Research Council Study of the Totally Integrated Munitions Enterprise program for the U.S. Army, a Roundtable on Manufacturing in the U.S. and Canada, a visionary forum convened by the National Coalition for Advanced Manufacturing to seek consensus on manufacturing Grand Challenges, and several panels formed by the National Science and Technology Council. Mr. Neal has a BS and MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Tennessee .
